bad reviews on BFG all terrains

so im thinking of getting some new tires, and i know BFG has a great reputation. but i was reading reviews on discount tires web site and alot of people dis like the A/Ts. what are your opinons on the tire?

I have had them for about 10K miles and I couldn't be happier. They are not loud on the freeway and they have awesome grip offroad. I had Goodyear Silent Armors before and I wont go back.

i loved my bfg a/t's on my old ranger they were super quiet on the road, had awesome tread life, and were a very versatile offroad tire. they looked great too. U will be super happy with them. i highly recommend them.

Yeah, i have to give them 2 thumbs up. They are great off road and on. They dont make noise. And they last a pretty long time. They look great too (as if that matters..lol).

But do a little reading around here, i think they are the most popular tire on this forum (which says a lot IMO)

both my uncles have them, use them for daily driving and for camping in baja on the course for the 500 and 1000, awsome tires, no complaints.

Very good tires!!!!! But absolutely SUCK in any type of serious mudd UNLESS aired down a lot, my best use with them has been in deep snow and off road on DRY terrain, rocks/dirt/gravel etc etc and they do wear good and not very loud on the road and yes they look really good!! Never had a flat either!!

I will admit though I will be purchasing bf Mud terrains for my next set and will deal with the slight increase in noise.

I had em on my Bronco before I sold it, best tire I've driven on. I've debated going to them on my Ranger, but I wanna keep the aggressive look so I'll be going with M/T's again

It really really depends on what you do with your truck. I had them on a cherokee i had a while back.....they effin' sucked. On the street they are wonderful. But on the muddy trails or on the rocks...they blow. Got all gummed up wayyy to fast then they act like a slick cuz they don't clean out like the m/t's do. But thats normal for all terrains.

This opinion/review comes from an offroader.

Remember: most of the people who post on the net are posting "bad" experiences. If people have a good experience, they will often not write about it.

Like ranger trannies, all you hear is bad things about them. When was the last time somebody wrote saying how their tranny is awesome! Nobody, becuase if it still works, they go on with life, but when the tranny dies and they fork out $2000, thats when people go online and b!tch.

By the way I just got some BFG T/A's in 30x9.5x15, great tire! Looks great, got lots of compliments, last week I had to launch a boat in clay and slimy rocks and not one tire spin getting out with a rather steep boat launch. Now I can't wait to see how they perform in the snow.

They're an awesome tire but the treads will fill up with goo in anything sticky. I got my otherwise stock 4x4 into some pretty deep snow last winter. 4 low 2nd gear 2500rpm those all terrains may as well have been tank treads lol.

That seems like driver error. on Maurice's Ranger he was running 33's with 3.73 gears and we got 30" of snow. We were going down roads that hadn't been plowed yet.

The problem I found was that the 245/75R16 only comes in a load E rating which would have been a seriously harsh ride in the Ranger. When you purchase new tires make sure to get a C or D load rating.

That's why I went with Bridgestone Dueler ATs but then I ended up find a ridiculously good deal on 265/70R16s with a D load rating. It's a much nicer ride over the E rated tires I had on my 94...Live and learn, sometimes the hard way.

Whaaaat? Driver error? 30" of snow is a lot but that's normal up here. I regularly drove on snowmobile trails and unplowed or un-used offroad trails all winter (shudder).
Some of the trails had nearly 5 feet of snow on em before winter was out. Even in april there was still some hardpack in the woods, where the shadows were. The trick was going slow enough to pack snow down as you roll onto it, and the all terrains were great because they bite right into the white stuff. You can't spin a tire or you'll sink like a rock.

I'm getting at set of these in 31"s when it comes time to fill in the wheel wells shouldn't hurt my mileage I already have 4:10s...

I've put about 50k on BFGs. I got one set used and then wrecked the truck, and they came stock on my new truck. The ones on my new truck lasted for 60k before I replaced them,and probably could've gone another while before needing to be replaced, but my cousin was leaving the tire store he was working at.

Anyways, I've put a lot of miles on BFG AT's and I have nothing but good to say about them! If you are buying them for what they're intended for (i.e. NOT extreme off-roading) then you'll be very pleased! They last a long time, look GREAT compared to other ATs out there, and they're great in anything but really gooey mud (though that hasn't always stopped me before!). Get them! You won't be disappointed for your daily driver that sees occasional offroad duty.

Obviously any AT tire is going to suck in mud that why they are called ATs and not Mts. Duh. I had problems in some stupidly sticky stuff with my Goodyears. They fill up and turn into slicks.

I am on my second set. They are the only kind of tires I have bought a second set. They are great in everything but mud, and they even do okay in if you know how to drive in the mud.

I had a set of 33"s on my 82 F-250. I did ok in the mud. They weren't aggresive enough for me though. I could not go in the deep stuff. Ya, I know they are All Terrains. There weren't so great either when one of them blew out and I had to walk home.

I've had them on 2 broncos and currently on my ranger. My brother had them on his bronco and currently on his Tacoma. We both love them. Couldn't be happier. Excellent tire. Quiet on the road, but handles extremely well off-road.

I love them on multiple sets now.. they are great for what they are. not a mudder but all around good

Damn good tire. I have put close to 50k on my 31's now and wasn't properly maintaining them like I should have. I have had them rotated a few times, and was good about keeping tire pressure correct the first 25k miles, but got lazy after. I will probably go another 5k-10k miles on them. IMO, they are the best looking A/T tire on the market. I have put them threw mud, dirt, snow, rocks, rain and pavement and am very pleased with their performance. Especially in the snow. We had a blizzard here in Greeley a few years ago, with snow up to 24-28 inches, and I didn't get stuck. I would recommend these tires to anyone.

Many people say they are over priced and over rated, but I don't think so. Sure, they cost a bit more then other A/T's...but I would rather have the given reliability and looks of the BFG's. A friend in a Ranger thought BFG's are over priced and over rated...and went out and bought some Dunlop AT's, only to have them wear out 30k miles later.

I haven't decided what tire I will be getting next time around after I get my lift, but I think my top choice will be the BFG AT's again. Or the BFG MT's.
