Body Lift Shift Extension

Body Lift Shift Extension
I plan on getting a body lift for my truck. Where is the cheapest place to get the shift extension for my truck since I have a manual? I see them on ebay for $35. can I get it anywhere cheaper than that? I think it is kinda rediculous to pay that much for a little piece of metal. Could I make something or is it something special?

I shoulda took pics of mine before I put it in but its so simple lookin
basically looks like an aluminum cylinder a few inches in height and maybe 2" diameter with a shaft stickin out of it a few inches
You don't NEED one right away. In fact for the 2 years I didn't use one I actually found it comfortable with the shifter lower. I just found a good deal on R-F and snagged one.

Also worth noting, I couldn't use my stock boot when prior to the shifter being raised. It would hit the plastic shroud in 2nd, 4th and reverse. You can get creative with a different boot tho

Had the same problem in my 93...had to leave out the cup holders until I got the extension. Prolly won't find it anywhere cheaper than $35. I had to buy a new one b/c that tension bolt stripped out in the middle of changing gears.

There were two different shifter stubs used in the Mazda transmissions. The first was used up until the late 90's on the M5OD-R1 transmissions. The M5OD-R1HD transmissions like yours were given a different shifter stub.
Since you have an 08, it doesn't really matter because you have the HD trans. If you had say a 98 Ranger, you would have to figure out which transmission you have.
With that being said however, I think the shifter extension that Performance Accessories sells is usable on both of the shifter stubs. There are extra slots drilled into it that I think allow you to run it either way.
Here's a picture from TRS that shows the different stubs.
