suspension lift vs body lift or both?

Which is better or do they go hand in hand? Can one be done without the other? A lot of the stuff underneath the truck is fixed in length. Which lift option will require new replacement parts? For example, I want bigger aggressive tires for wandering in the woods and other off road paths. Not go crazy and bang the hell out of my truck jumping hills and scaling vertical walls. I need ground clearance mainly. Will a suspension lift give me clearance for larger tires or will a body lift be needed as well? What's the maximum height I can go with a stock XLT 4x4 before I need to buy extensions for linkages, hoses, and such? My stock setup has its limits. I want to be able to take it deeper and farther into where ever and know I will be OK. Also, why do so many people switch out the front hubs to manual locks?

I went with a body lift because all i wanted was to clear bigger tires and be able to go off the beaten paths. Not only is it very cheap to do but it works just fiine. Suspension lifts are a ton more expensive but a lot better offroad performance. If moneys not a factor go for suspension lift.

Body lift just picks the body off the frame so the cab will ride heigher. The only offroad advantage you get buy it is larger tires. Body lift it 150. Suspension is way better but it costs 1500. I would do both if I had the money.

What I am looking for is at what point during a lift will I need to add extensions? Does anyone have photos of a suspension lift in progress? I want to see what is involved with one. I saw a body lift thread with photos and it was wonderful and very informational. Anyone know where to see photos of a suspension lift being done? I have searched. The thread titles offer no helpful info and there are over 500+ results for either lift option. I am looking for specifics, not into searching to keep finding the same info on body lifts.

a 3" body lift, some things need to be extended. steering is the main one i can think of. you need to move the rad and fan shroud as well. suspension lift will probably require a new front drive shaft iirc. im not sure what else because i havent researched it too extensively yet.

i'm body lifted right now, and it boosted the offroad performance of my truck immensely. but i will also be doing a suspension lift asap. can't wait for that.

When you did your body lift, most of the hoses, ABS lines, A/C lines, fuel lines, and such were long enough to reach where they were originally? From what I've read so far, and it's been A LOT, most of the work can be done in the garage. Was the body lift more time consuming than anything? I see there are alot of pieces you need to disconnect before going up that high. Are you doing the suspension lift yourself, or taking it somewhere to do it? If you do it yourself, I'd like to see pics of what's involved if you remember.

Double lifted seems the way I am headed. But I don't want to go stupid high. I dont want to roll over when I hit molehills. Going to have to see if I can balance it out. Seems body lifts are either 1 or 3 inch. and suspension lifts are 3inch and more. Anyone know of a happy medium, say, 4 inches of total lift between the two types? Also, Where do you guys buy your tires? Seem lots of good ones, but shops around me don't seem to offer those styles. Are they online-ordered?

I tried that and yes, it brings up alot of results, but it seems to separate what I am looking for. Example: I typed in 'spindle lift' I got back results for 'spindle' and 'lift'. I don't like generics. I want specifics. Like what is a spindle lift? What's an RCD lift? Are they one and the same? Are they different brands? So even though you say it will answer my questions, Sorry to say, it didn't have what I am looking for.

I see lots of info on one or three inch lifts. Are there no two inch lifts? Anyone see these? I checked three sites and it's the same...one or three inch lift kits. Is that all that's offered? These questions are not answered in the forums, and if they are, they are so buried, I don't have the time and patience to crawl around looking for it. That's why I asked.

go onto performance accessories website or another body lift manufacturers website and they give instructions on how to do the lift. it will tell you what needs to be extended. might be some good informational reading for you.
