Hi guys. 02 Ranger 4cyl./manual transmission, Going down the road and engine shuts off immediately.
Wont turn over and don't even hear the solenoid kick in. All accessories work with key on.
Also noticed that the fuel pump will not run when you turn the key on. Any ideas where to start?

Does the CEL(check engine light) come on when key is on?
This means the computer is booting up, no CEL means no computer so no fuel pump and no crank

There is a fuse for computer and a relay in the engine fuse box, #7, 30amp, and the PCM power relay
And also Fuse #19, 25amp in CAB fuse box

Also the starter needs 70amps, the dash lights, radio, ect.....needs maybe 10amps

So I would remove and clean battery cables/terminals

If you have a volt meter test battery voltage
12.8v is a new battery
12.5v is a 3 year old battery
12.3v is a 5 year old battery, and time to look for a good battery sale

12.2v or under is a bad or drained battery, so alternator may not be working and engine was running off battery, if battery gets low enough then engine would stall, and not restart because there is not 70 amps left in the battery, but dash lights would still come on

Batteries generally last 5 to 6 years, your Ranger is 17 years old, so current battery should be the 3rd battery and close to the end of its life
