2.3L Unresponsive throttle

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I have a 2002 2.3L ranger that started acting up around a month ago. The truck will drive fine for sometimes 5-10mins and then randomly the throttle will become unresponsive. It will slow down as if I have let off the gas but the gas pedal is still pressed in. It will still idle before it suddenly bucks and starts to accelerate again.

The engine will also randomly stall, usually when driving slow. It seems the problem is worse when the car is hot.

So far I have changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and the IAC and MAF were replaced not too long ago.

I checked the codes and there is one for an oxygen sensor (which has been there for a long time) and another one for the cylinder head temperature sensor which has just appeared recently. I went to unplug the CHT to see if that would make a difference and noticed it was already unplugged and I assume has been for a long time. Could that sensor be the issue?

Please help! I'm running out of ideas.

Thanks,
Jared

Nice. So what your trying to say is that because the CHT sensor is unplugged that HAS to be the issue?? The fact it's been unplugged for the last two years (I'm assuming the previous owner unplugged it because it was faulty) and it hasn't caused any problems up until now would lead me to think it's probably not the CHT but maybe I'm wrong.

Since your obviously so intelligent could you provide an explanation as to why it would suddenly start causing problems now?

I'm not ruling it out (which is why I asked if it could be the problem) but in my mind it doesn't make sense that it would suddenly start causing issues.

And yep checked the tires, don't think it's that! Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum!!

Plugging it back in would be one way to find out.

Welcome to the forum

Yes, I would hook the CHT(cylinder head temp) sensor back up or change it and hook it back up

So you are losing power while driving

What are the exact code numbers?
not what they mean, need the exact numbers

There are over 30, O2 sensor codes, each means something a little different

You should look up codes on a Full List like this one: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...II_codes.shtml

Never just Google a code number, you can do that after looking it up on a full list
