2.5L I4 Bore Block

2.5L I4 Bore Block

How much can these blocks be bored?

2.5l SOHC Lima engine block is the same as the 2.3l SOHC Lima engine, 2.5l has a longer stroke, so different crank and connecting rods
But they both used the same pistons and cylinder sleeves

The 2.3l Lima was around from 1974 thru 1997, so I would look for the max Bore on those blocks and available piston sizes for over-bored

2.5l was only around from 1998-2000, 1/2 year in 2001
So won't be as much info on those, but the 2.3l has LOADS of info on modifications as they were used in Mustangs for many years

I am looking at a 2.5L I4 out of a ford fusion duratec block to buy but it needs to be bored around .020 over to fix them can these blocks be bored out and if so how much?

Sorry can't help much with the Duratec models

But the Ford 2.5l DOHC Duratec is a Mazda L engine and Mazda recommends a 0.020" overbore maximum, so that should be fine to do
