Can't remove PILOT bearing (clutch)!!!!

I removed my tranny, clutch pressure plate. Then the flywheel. But in the middle of the flywheel there is a small pilot bearing( im pretty sure thats what it's called). It is not easy to come out. I dont have money to buy one of those slide and pull hammers. I tried byuilding my own, and pulled like crazy, but that thing wont come out. It is the last thing i need to take off.

Any ideas??

Best thing to get it out with is a slide hammer. You dont have to buy one though, you can rent them from autozone, pep boys, or any auto store like that.

i looked at the slide hammer at autozone. But the bolt from the hammer was thicker than the hole of the bearing. (How would it fit, and what does it grab)
The hammer is threaded

There is a puller that attaches to the end of the slide hammer. Heres a pic of what it should look like.

yup that looks right.
you think it would still work even though my pilot bearing broke. The little bearings broke loose, so now i have to grab onto the hollow bearing. You know what i mean?/

By the way, is that called an intenal slide hammmer?

Yeah it should work. When i used it it actually ripped out the inner part of the bearing out first then i had to use it again to take out the rest of the bearing.

And yes it is also known as an internal type puller

Even if you can't get both jaws of the slide hammer in there you can do it with just one. I've done my clutch several times and it just took a little persistence.
