b rand new yet the header flywheel and back off the head is rusted?? sounds fishy

 

Metal rusts even when not used.

 

But normally there is packing oil spread on it so it does not rust. Although if it has been left outside uncovered, it could have come off.

 

The question I'd want to know is why was it never used? Seems odd to take a motor out of new truck (assuming it was done in 01) if it was never used, unless there was a problem with it.

 

I asked that in the email. So when he gets back to me I'll let you guys know what he/she says

 

if it's out of a 2001 it's a 2.5 lima or a 2.3 duratech. not a 2.3lima but for arguments sake the 2.5 should be the same as yours. If it's the 2.3 duratech it's gonna be a bit more trouble swapping in since it's a completely different motor. do a compression test before you haul it off. :D I just got done with a 2.3-2.3 swap. lots of fun.
