Hi all! I have a question on an engine swap. I have a 1997 ranger with a rod knock. I'm not sure if it's a 2.3 or 2.5 engine.

My dad has a 2004 ranger (very low mileage) that is totalled from forgetting to put into gear when he got out, and it ended up rolling into a dry creek and bending it into a U shape.

My question is; is it possible the engine could be swapped into my 1997 without a lot of modifications? Both trucks are standard transmissions, and i can use the wiring and the computer from the 2004.

I did use the search to try to find an answer before posting, but all the swaps involved v-8's or v-6 swaps. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance!
