Header information!!! (read if you want a header)

I am in talks with a small company to produce a race header (eliminates the catalytic converter) for the 2.3 liter duratec ranger..

A few key things--- this is custom so price would most likely be around 300$

item will take an extended length of time to produce.

Since the duratec equipped ranger is OBD2 eliminating the catalytic converter will throw a cel but there is a mechanical fix for this, take two spark plug defoulers , drill one out, screw them together then screw it into the welded in o2 sensor bung then place the secondary sensor into the defouler.

This trick worked with my obd2 equipped 2003 civic si so i would imagine it will work with the ranger

I will be the guinea pig for this , Once i get the Race header in, i will wrap it up good and install it and let everybody know, i will keep this thread updated....

when i get it all in and inspect the quality I will post up links + email addresses for the people doing the project (understand i am holding off on this so if **** hits the fan , i am only out a chunk of money and nobody else will be)

Well keep in mind if this being driven on the street it is a federal crime to remove the catalytic converter, so if you want to run a long tube header then I would recommend installing a catalytic converter after the header. A properly functioning catalytic converter will not affect performance at all unless you are running leaded race gas and if you are doing that then you're not street legal in the first place. Remember there is a VERY LARGE federal fee for removing a functional catalytic converter and running none on any street registered vehicle.
