A friend of mine fell on hard times because women and bad chooses do that. He got out of trouble and was working. I needed my motor rebuild. He did a great job till he got back in trouble.

only thing he says is left is a transmission cooler line. Not sure about it because it is a 5speed. How should I run the line and where can I find it?

Hopefully for you he didn't swap it to an automatic, rather than rebuild the engine.

All jokes aside, maybe he meant coolant hose for the engine.

What if he did take an automatic to manual?

2002 Ranger will have a 2.3l Duratec DOHC engine

1983 to 1997 Rangers used the 2.3l Lima SOHC engine

So there can be some confusion if you look up 2.3l Ranger to get information about the engine since there were TWO totally different 2.3l engines used in Rangers

If you have a clutch pedal then you do not have a transmission cooler

It is the DOHC. The issue is he did not rebuild my motor. He rebuilt a automatic motor, because mine was shot.

There is no such thing as an "automatic" motor

A Transmission can be automatic or manual

A motor can be gasoline or diesel, but not automatic or manual, there is no difference in an engine(motor) that comes out of a vehicle with a manual transmission or automatic transmission

I am more confused by what he said than before. I know there is no trans cooler on a 5speed. If you take a motor off of and automatic transmission and put it to a manual do you need to cap off a trans cooler line?
I think that is what he means.?.?

No, the transmission cooler is in the radiator, no connection to the motor/engine

You do need to swap flexplate for flywheel because automatics and manuals use different connections inside the bell housing, but nothing to do with engine or transmission cooler

I know that was done.
No port or anything on the radiator that needs to be capped?

Nope!

There are 2 ports on the radiator but once the lines are off the fluid drains and that's it. You have a manual trans so you should not have any ports. If you do, you could plug them just to ensure nothing gets in there if by any chance you will need them in the future for and automatic trans swap. But if left open it will not affect anything.

If the vehicle was a manual transmission from the factory then there would be no "cooler ports" in factory radiator, replacement radiators often have them but not used in manual trans vehicle.

So finally got to look at it and he must have meant power steering cooler. But really I think I just need to connect the lines.

When I replaced mine, it had cooler ports like you said but came with plastic thread-in caps. I just left them in.

There is no power steering cooler on these trucks that I am aware of.

Once a vehicle hits about 10 years old you can only get automatic trans replacement radiators, because they can be used on either manual or automatics, so 3rd party makers just make the one usually

There's a power steering cooler along the crossmember under the engine.
