what is the breakin period for a new truck

what is the breakin period for a new truck? i shift a 3000rpms. right now i have 1/4 of a tank left and all i have is 250 miles in it, subtract 8 miles that was on it before i got it. does that seem right. i think i have a 17gallon tank.

the shift is getting better and smoother but when does it get real smooth like butter?

and one more question

the rpms go up to 7000 and there is no redline, how do i know where the redline is? sorry stupid noob questions.

I think the normal break-in period is either 500 or 1000 miles.I think the red line is about 6000RPM. Don't quote me, I could be wrong.
