Hey guys. I have a 2003 ford range edge 3.0L that has 295,000 miles on it. I noticed it has some coolant leaking from underneath the truck the other day and found out it was leaking from the time chain cover which is common in the 3.0s. The leak is minor but my question is should I bother fixing a truck that has almost 300,000 miles? The truck runs fine and the motor sounds good I just don’t want to dump the money into it if something else major is going to go wrong with it.

 

I just fixed my coolant leak in the same place, same year and engine, and my truck has 194,000 miles. But I've also had it since 42,000 miles, so I know it's history and I've meticulously maintained it. Keep in mind, there are other things you should probably replace while you're in there, like the timing chain set, the water pump, the radiator hoses, drive belt, etc. That can easily drive up the cost, but is good for peace of mind.
