What other cars in the junk yard have a 3.oL engine?

Taurus is the most common alternative. Just make sure it's the Vulcan engine rather than the Duratec.

If you go with a Taurus, which is a FWD, you have to change out the head gaskets for the rear wheel drive configuration.

Rebuilding The Ford 3.0L Engine

As fastpakr points out there are some crossover years for taurus/sables that both 3.0l Vulcan and 3.0l Duratec were offered, 1996-2005 Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable could have either

And as Jeff R 1 said the FWD cars used different coolant flow pattern, so head gaskets were different, but thats all
