3.0 throttle body spacers?

I'm still kinda novice when it comes to mods that can be done to improve the performance of the 'lil 3.0... I have already upgraded with a MAC cold air intake, and the exaust but i would also like to get a throttle body spacer as well, the only problem is whenever i look online or anywhere, manufacterers only make them for either 2.3 of 4.0. Does anyone know of a company or place that sells a throttle body spacer for a 2002 3.0 edge? Also, i've heard that you can use a 5.0 throttle body on a ranger, is this true? Any help will due, thanks!

my friend used a throttle body from a 5.0 mustang welded to a intake manifold from a 3.0 taurus on his rus and it killed his cats... so yes it can be done but you will have problems

From what I have heard is that it is a huge waste of money. Do the MAF mod to get you some more performance. Plus I don't think anyone makes a spacer for the 3.0.

A throttle body spacer on a sidedraft, long intake runner manifold like the 3.0 is a complete waste of money. Don't bother. MAF mod is much better for a 3.0. See my Cardomain site (as usual, lol)

I like the idea as far as performance gains, but cutting the mass airflow sensor doesnt sound too appealing, i know i will probably screw up, mass airflow sensors arn't exactly cheap to replace either. But i will concider. Thanks guys.

I've done literally a dozen or more 3.0's and NO problems. Mine has been modded for over 2 years and emissions passes and everything when I get the truck inspected. I know I wrote the article with dire warnings, and you should be careful -- but really on a 3.0 it's not a big deal.

4.0's have idle problems sometimes after cutting. But I've never had a 3.0 that had a problem from it.

Maybe you can do that the other way around, Leo, or charge him or something, because otherwise he can't use his truck while you guys are mailing back and forth!!! :p

haha, yeah, thanks for the offer, but i have to use my truck everyday. If you want to sell it, i may be interested, though. My trucks still under warranty until 36K ive only got 21K on it so far, so in case of any warranty problems i may have, i can swap out MAFs before taking it to the dealership.

you guys dont wanna do a MAF mod...your just gonna screw your truck up and just **** you off. Your not gonna get any power out of it..truck me...and a throttle body spacer is a waste of money as well...so take that into concideration. Just getta new if anything like that performance mass air.

I trust you on the spacer for sure. But the MAF mod on the plastic MAF of a 3.0 works wonders (if you research this board, we've had people test it AT THE TRACK). However, if you also read, you'll find it is more of a problem on the 4.0.

You have an older MAF and I'm not sure what your results would be. But on the later trucks it works very well on the 3.0.

Still, I got the idea from people who had SUCESSFULLY done the MAF mod and gotten results on the older MAF's, so I'm not sure what you experienced -- or did you ever try it?

I've had my MAF modded for almost a year and have had no problems. I clean it every few months with some electric cleaner and its fine.:)
