3.0L gas mileage?

I was browsing the threads and saw a few people posting about their fuel mileage, i didnt want to hijack the other guys thread since it was concerning engine options, but i wanted to hear what all the other 3.0's were getting, hightway, around town, combined, whatever. I usually get 17 combined, my best highway total was 19, to toledo from youngstown. My 95 cobra with 3.73s gets about 19 around town, and i dont drive it on the freeway. I know that the truck is alot heavier, but im pretty surprised that its worse than the gas guzzling V8. Just curious as to what everyone else thinks. Also, my truck is a manual. I know someone on here had a black edge and now has a white 5.0, just wondering what the fox is getting compared to the truck, i may sell the truck for a fox 5.0, since i konw 5.0s like the back of my hand.

I used to get about 18 mpg with 33's around town, but that was with a tuner, intake, exhaust, and the maf mod with a 3.0.

With mine I only ever filled up with 12.5-13 gallons of gas and I got about 250 miles with all city driving.

I get a pretty steady 19. Worst ever was a hair less than 17, best was slightly better than 21. I drive alot of highway miles, but I go 80+ on them, and I do alot of flooring it around town. I have 4.10s and 32" tires.

i guess im pretty close to "normal" then, maybe a slightly heavy foot. I thought they may get a little better mileage than i was getting, thinking something was wrong with my truck, but it seems normal. I guess im used to getting about 22 city 28 highway, i had a 95 V6 5spd mustang before the truck. I love my truck, and its awesome in the winter, and got a great deal on it, im torn as to wether to keep it and bite the bullet on gas or get something a "little" better (5.0) and have some extra cash from the trade down.

i get a steady 20 to 21 mpg and it mostly towing a 4000lbs trailer all day. the only engine mod i have so far is the air box mod. but i dont floor it to get going and i keep my maintence up like change oil every 3000, flush tranny every 30,000, change spark plugs every 40,000 to 50,000 along with the fuel filter, and keep an eye on the air filter and when its dirty change it. that along with good driving habits = better gas mileage. i have yet to see what kinda of mileage i will get with out the trailer i guess i might get between 22 to 23 mpg with out it maybe higher than that but i dont know.

With gas prices over $3/gallon and me driving conservatively, I've been getting around 20mpg with a city-highway mix. Before that, I was getting about 18 -19 mpg with the 93 perf program on Doug's tuner.

About 90% of my driving is at 40-65 mph (the rest is in town) and I average 20-20.5 mpg. I have a 3.0, 5-speed manual, reg. cab, 4WD. 4.10 rear end, and stock 245/75R16 tires. I rarely stomp on it and usually shift at or a bit below 3,000 rpm.

Worst 18( daughter driving ) best 24. I do a lot of hwy (300 hwy and 50city per week) and I get btween 21-24mpg depending on my habits. I've learned alot lately about the art of coasting to a stop sign/light and not driving up to it. Also I cut idle time down alot. If I'm at a long red light, I cut the truck off , have my hand on the key and gear selector in neutral(auto), and restart soon as the light is green. last week I got 23.5. I make a game of it and do the best I can. I don't like to lose, but with gas prices these days, I do the best that I can. I don't use the a/c unless the heat is unbearable or my fiance is riding with me. I have a cold air intake and a flow master 40 si/so, mobil 1

Hey man, that was me your talking about.

I usually get about 18-19 mpg depending on where im driving, when i went to huntsville, i averaged around 19 mpg, i drive 25 miles to school, and 25 back, so its kinda hard, but i dont think i fill up more with the 5.0, i think its actually better, if i dont romp on it.

I still have the factory 3.08's and LS , but im not changing that anytime soon. Im at about 1600 rpm @ 60mph, which is not bad at all.

thanks FoMoCoStang.... yea, i figure since you had a ranger and have the only thing i would probably sell it for, your input is very appriciated. Car looks great by the way, love the white/white! Man i miss my old 92 white fox... i dont know why but ive been wanting to get back into one lately, and as much as i love the Ranger, having another 5.0 would be cool. Im just having a hard time justifying selling a basically perfect truck, for something older, and worse in the winter, with no passanger air bag. Ive had 3 stangs, but never a fox 5.0... its really a hard decision.

yea, it is hard, mine doesnt have air bags at all...

WInters arent bad down here in Tx. Just keep the ranger, and put a piece of 2x4 behind the peddle.

I would say buy the fox, thier a blast to drive, but, it seems as if the ranger is something you need for the winter.

I think i may keep the ranger through the winter, ill be graduating college in the spring. If im going to get something new maybe ill do it then... or wait for the SportTrac Adrenaline to come out, and then i can have the best of both worlds... well, except for fuel efficiancy! However, if someone offers me the right price for the Ranger, or the perfect 5.0 comes along, i may have to veto that plan.
