I need some help... First off Ive been helping a friend of mine with his 98 3.crap ranger . Well the truck was not idling very well it stumbled alot and died. So I asked him if he pulled any codes for the check engine light and he told me that he did and forgot the numbers but said it was the o2 sensors and egr. So we changed 02 sensors and cleaned the MAF. well I checked the EGR and there was little to no vaccuum going to it so we changed the EGR regulator valve and to no avail still no vaccuum. I reflashed the computer and let it idle for 10min and its running great then I take it for a test run well it took 3000 rpms to get past 1st and 2nd but never hit O.D. just stayed in 3rd at 3500 rpm..... What gives motor threw a CEL for banks 1 and 2 being lean "but still runs good" but now wont shift for S#%@

straight to the point questions:
why is there no vaccuum to the egr
why is the truck not shifting right
