ok this is really odd

Here is the story...

I bought a 2001 Ranger 3.0 edge in september 2003....or at least i think i did...

this past tuesday i ordered JBA spark wires...they show up and they dont fit...not even close...so i call jba tech support, they dont understand why they wont fit because they are the right part number

the jba guys tells me to call ford and ask them if they can tell me what year my distributor is, because there was a change 2000-2001. "i ordered 2001-03 wires" the jba guy thinks i may have a late model 2000 labeled a 2001 by ford...he said this happens sometimes and guys have to order 2000 parts for there 2001 dodge's

i call ford give them my motorcraft distributor # and they have no idea what it is...haha. so i call the jba guy back and he sends me 98-00 wires, the only other size it could be....they arrived 6 hrs ago and they werent even close to fitting either...now im a little pissed

then it all comes together, the wires didnt fit my distributor, and when i got my jba headers in early 2004 they fit the block but the passenger side didnt line up with the y pipe at all and i had to have a custom y pipe made to line up

does anyone know whats going on here, what year is my truck, haha???? btw the jba guy was really nice, he gave me a full refund with free shippng both ways

it says it on the door jam sticker drivers side, also the edge wasn't available until 2001

you can also call ford, give them your vin and they can tell you your year, motor etc.

i bought it from a ford dealership used

ok just did some research... turns out i have a early model 2001 which had the motorcraft 1F2U-12029-Ac/EE03A. The JBA wires only work with Motorcraft DG485 which replaced mine on all fords and mazda's for some weird reason. So basically im screwed unless i want to buy a 80 distributor from ford....oh well.

If you have a distributor, you have a much older engine than 2001.

Your 2001 should have a coil pack. Same for 2000 and several years prior.

Thats what I was gonna say.. coil packs replaced distributors in the mid 90's...
