31's / 32's to much for 3.0?
Im about to get a ranger with a 3.0 in it and I was wondering if 31's or 32,s would be to much for the motor. I was looking at get a BFG Mud Terrain or All Terrain. What do you guys think? Thanks, Nick

the 3.0 will be fine with 31's/32's
|
lol Jey has a 3.0 and is runnin 38s..but he is just geared low..
but yes like Kris said you will be fine you can even run 33s |
I can spin one of my 32's , don't know if I can once I get the L/S.
|
Will I feel a loss in power or should I be ok? I plan on gettin exhaust, intake, and the bamachip a little after the tires. Thanks, Nick
|
im sure there will be some power loss becasue of the added weight and surface area but like evan said, you can always regear and not lose very much if any....
|
i have 31's and i have not noticed any power loss
|
it would be worth it to you if you are worried about power loss or mpg loss to invest in a Bama tuner.
|
Brad has 35s on his 3.0, and he only has exhaust.
|
i have 31's on my 3.0 and on the highway it sucks, but around the city i dont see a diffrence
|
my friend has a lift with 33's and he pulls a boat with the 3.0 and says the motor does fine.
|
you will loose maybe a second ina race vs the stock 29s. But who the hell is really caring too much about power having a 3.0 anyways? 1 or 2 hp couldnt mean less to me w/ this engine. So get the tires, cuz they will make ur truck look oh so much better and the [handling]performance on and off-road will be ten fold over stock.
|
Alright, you will notice a little difference when you put the pedal down.
But... if you go with some 4.10:1 gears, it will pretty much be fixed. |
I have 38's on my 3.0.
End of discussion. |
You're also geared low, so not the end of discussion.
It's not always the engine that matters when it comes to turning tires. As long as you're geared correctly front/rear you could sortof turn anything. As my dad always says something along the lines of "give me a place to stand and i will move the earth" which is a quote from Archimede's, with things such as pivot points and gearing you can do anything. So 034x4 has 38s and he is geared low on his truck. He matched the gearing correctly so his truck will be much like stock. But if you currently have 3.73 gears and put 32s on, you should notice it bogged down a lil. If you have 4.10 gears stock, you shouldn't really have much change at all.. I don't think the 3.0 is actually that slow, at least not for me. It's more like..in the v6 world its small; compared to the 4 cylinder its great. -Aaron |

My 3.0 came with 4.10's and 31's. I put 33's on and did not notice a difference really. When I put 35's on it killed it.
But I geared to 5.13 to match the 38" tires. |
I can spin my 35's and do 90 on the highway!

will it be "fine" with 31"-33" tires? sure. 31"s wasn't so bad.
but 33"s will bog it down some (even with 4.10s). i'll run about ~2400 rpms doin ~70mph down the highway and usually avg about 15mpg and that's with a bamachips tuner, ssd intake and catback exhaust. but regardless, i wanted the benefits of the 33"s and have to deal with the drawbacks |
With my 35s I am at 3200 RPM's at 90 with 4.10's

I really don't want to regear...i really don't want to at all |
How does it feel when you accelerate? Can you tell that there is a difference in acceleration or is it about the same? Just want to know what to expect. Thanks, Nick
|
Well you should regear anyways I have a programmer and the take off is not that bad. But I am regearing to 4.56's because the tranny cant take it!
|
What gears do you have?
Add a signature...it helps. But going to 31"s with stock 4.10s ain't bad at all. Goin to 33"s and I noticed it. |
