91 ranger extended cab 2wd 5 speed manual 3.73 ratio

this is my 3rd ranger (1st 01 3.0 2nd 93 3.0 3rd 91 3.0) so i am used to how the 3.0 feels and runs. i’ve been driving this truck for a year with no issues whatsoever besides some minor electrical stuff like relays and ground issues. my problem is that it’s an absolute dog. it takes FOREVER to get it up to 60 compared to my 93 with 33s. i even have a s10 with a 2.2 that would run circles around this thing. Previous owner put a cold air intake with an aftermarket maf sensor and it’s hooked up and i’ve traced the wires and they appear to be connected as they should be, do these have a “limp” mode because i suspect the filter to be my issue as there has been no other mods done. also, i’ve given it a full tuneup and proper maintenance. thanks in advance.

 

I don't have an answer for you but I hope someone replies, because sometimes I think mine is doggy for a 3.0 - but unlike you I have no prior experience to draw from. Mine is 100% stock as far as I know.

 

my 01 would run circles around my 91 and it was 4x4 same as my 93. Had i not driven another one i might think it’s fine as it shows no signs of any struggle other than the 0-60 which is probably around 30-40 seconds. for comparison my 01 was probably less that 15 on that 0-60
