Begining Mods

I just did the throttle cable mod on my 05 EDGE. I'll know more as to the effects in the morning. I'm also working on the air box mod. I already took the silencer and other rubber box off and am fabricating a little piece of aluminum to go between the box and the frame on the engine side to limit all possibilities of sucking in the hot engine compartment air. I can say that my Ranger finally sounds like a truck now and I actually like it.

On another note, the throttle cable mod is a pain when you're a big guy like myself, but I got it done.

Here's the actual question, other than the blinker mod, which I'm doing tomorrow, what other free mods are there to do. I just like adding little bits and pieces to help make my truck unique. I'm actually thinking of painting my radio bezel to match my truck, but I haven't really seen any how to's. Which paint would work best, Krylon?

if you want to paint the radio bezel, which i don't recommend but only because i think they look tacky, you'll want to strip all of the rubber coating that comes on them from the factory.
whether its silver or black, it will have to be stripped. I've had the best luck with brake fluid, sanding takes way too much of your time up.

personally, i think color matched (aside black of course) bezels look tacky. I had a red one at one point in my old truck but sold it. I even hate my OEM silver one but haven't found a decent black replacement

Okay, so I drove my truck this morning in the rain, the new found throttle response from sitting still is something I'll have to get used to. The throttle cable mod does make it seem as though the truck is a little peppier, and its definitely easier to bark the tires.
Also, driving in moderate rain will not cause water to get into your air box after doing the air box mod.

Yes, it took me 3 normal black zip ties. The truck does seem a little peppier, but I just have to readjust how much I push the pedal down or else I'll go from 13mpg to 9mpg :(

Trust me, it will involve some contortioning. But I actually feel like when I move the pedal,
he truck reacts. Btw, I just finished my air box mod with the plate, and its nice and snug, no air from the engine! I also finished the blinker mod and its awesome. Only took like 15 minutes too!

Oh im sure i might just take the drivers seat out because i know my 6 foot 5 frame isnt going to fit in there. and that air box mod is nuts on how much it changes the way it runs and sounds

sorry but no V6 sounds like a real truck and the airbox "mod" is useless just like an intake on these trucks
fullsize N/A V8 or diesels are "real" pickup trucks.

I didn't say it was a real truck, it just has a little bit of a growl now. I doubt it does anything performance wise, but I still like the little bit of growl. As long as it doesn't sound like a pissed off lawn mower, I'm good.
