IAC valve an throttle plate body

I cleaned the IAC valve on my 2003 3.0L engine. It was not giving trouble, I just decided to look at it and clean it. While doing so I noticed a tag on it that siad not to clean the throttle plate and bore because it has a special coating.

1-I'm thinking it may be a good idea to clean the IAC valve, say every 20k miles. I could keep the carbon from building up.

What do some of you mechanics think??

2-Is there a special chem. to clean the bore and throttle plate? They get carboned up as well and need to be cleaned as I have done several times on other vehicles.

Whats so special about the coating?

Did a search.

Ford recommends cleaning the IAC valve before it fails to increase it's life.

Since '98, IIRC, the throttle plate and bore is coated with teflon and carb cleaner will damage or remove the coating. They suggest cleaning it with soapy water and a clean soft rag. Don't drown it, just use a damp soapy cloth and dry it out good. They don't recommend removing it.

Using the OEM paper air filter will help keep the IAC, throttle body, and MAF sensor clean, eliminating the need to clean them. My 3.0L has 147K miles, and the MAF, IAC, and throttle body are spotless, never been cleaned.

I've always used Motorcraft, or Purolator paper air filters.

The new microfiber filters like those sold by Amsoil and others are also good. They filter as well as paper and are reuseable and don't suffer from the problems the oiled filters did.

your TB plate is not spotless and neither is the intake.
I just checked it about 2 months ago Einstein, when was the last time you
saw my intake and throttle body???

Oh, you missed the IAC valve, and MAF sensor....

Your post just shows you don't have a clue on how well the OEM paper airfilters work!
