Check Engine Light Flashes Fuel/spark Question

Hi I have a 1997 Ford Ranger 3.0 2 wheel drive. My check engine lights is flasjing pulled the codes and it says running lean on left bank and misfiring. My fuel sending unit doesnt work anymore, as my gas gauge went out. I havnt changed the fuel filter yet, cant see how that would be the problem. Did change all the plugs and wires. I would say it has spark, cause it does go down the road. Of course I smell gas when idling. So I am thinking fuel. Could the punp not be delivery enough pressure, is this possible, since my gauge went out. And could the filter really cause that problem, I wouldnt think so. However I will say this, I disconnected all the plug cables and reconnected them and the check engine light went out. However it came back on and flashes after taking another trip. It came back on at about 55 miles an hour. And I can go pretty good, but then it starts to shutter a bit, I remove my foot from the peddle and reaplly and it quits shuttering. Anybody out there have an opinion, I am all ears.

I'd guess the injectors may need a cleaning and new 0 rings.
