I have a 2000 ford ranger Xlt 3.0L flexfuel it has the coilpack with the vertical plug. Motorcraft # dg535 or Motorcraft W0133-1897071.
It had a misfire so i checked plugs and wire (failed) i replaced plugs and wires. Still has misfire so i disconnect the plug wire from coilpack and see if the coil trys sparking connectors on plug wire. Coil towers1,3,4,5,and 6 have power tower 2 does nothing. so i replaced the coilpack ran fine for about 10 minutes then i shut the truck off. The next day misfire, On tower 2. I have checked the wiring harness to the coil. All 3 trigger terminals are receiving signal. 12v const is also good. Fuel injectors check out. Im lost at this point. Both old and new coil packs have no power on tower 2. Any ideas?
how are you checking the misfire? is it a code? if its firing on 6 then 2 should be good also. they use the same coil. pull wire 2 and connect a plug to it. ground the plug and have someone start the motor. see if sparks. it should.
