Icon5 Cold air intake

I want to put a k&n cold air intake on my truck. I have heard of water getting sucked in and ruining the engine. Has anyone else heard of this?? I would like any suggestions before getting one!

Depends where you take your truck. If your just street driving and doing a little mudding you would be ok. K&N's kit uses the bottom of your airbox and includes a shield that corners the filter in the engine bay. So its covered pretty well. Unless your doing some hardcore offroading you will be fine. Somthing else to think about K&N's filter is a wet filter so if your driving gravel roads or dusty summer trails you might want to look at AEM's Brute Force! check out www.PerformanceCenter.com

Thanx for the info man. I checked out that site. I will probably get the k&n just because they are very reliable.

i do a lot of serious off roading up here in maine and i go through some pretty deep water they only thing you have to watch out for is how high up that water gets you just can't let the intake go under water but if you want to do anything deeper than that you would want a snorkel but i have had mine for a couple years and i love it just clean it when it gets dirty and you will have no issues

I wouldn't buy K+N just because of the pricing man, these things are only as reliable as the installation so any brand will work if you ask me, I have a MAC myself

My truck came with the k&n already on it. We never hit anything deep in it but we hit some water holes pretty hard, probably doing between 30 and 40 mph and there was some muddy water residue in the intake tube when we got home. The motor never faltered and is no worse for wear. Just my .02. And yeah they do sound cool at about 4000 rpm full throttle!!!
