Convince me to get Pullies for my truck

Well my b-day is on the 13th and I cannot decide what I want from anyone. I was considering the underdrive pullies for the longest time but I kind of lost interest. I wouldn't mind freeing up some power in my truck. Would this be a good thing to ask for? I have a 3.0 and realize that this mod won't snap my head back into the seat, but I'll take some noticeable torque or horsepower. If this mod is noticeable I guess I'll ask for it, but if it's not worth the money I'll pass. Please convince me to get the pullies. Oh and someone I know who had an F250 did this mod and told me definitely not to do it because he lost gas mileage and didn't notice anything. That truck's engine is completely different from mine, but I'm just making sure it wouldn't be the same type of results on mine.

Ya, I get people who say its not worth it and people who say it definitely is. I just want to clarify before I buy them.

I don't want to say its noticeable, but neither do I want to say it isnt. I'm giong to go right down the middle and say you will notice it for a week.

Rather than spend lots of money trying to make your truck go a little faster, save up money to either make it look offroad-worthy, or fast. Nicer wheels/tires, racing stripes, new front grille. Stuff like that. Cosmetic is what people will see since without an engine swap your truck just won't easily be fast.

I did notice and still notice some power from just my exhaust alone. I doubt that gave me 8 hp and 11 tq. It feels a lot "lighter" I want to say. I had the exhaust put on at around 2,500 miles on my truck so maybe the engine wasn't broken in yet.

I added a cold air intake and felt a very noticeable difference, and then added the crank pulley a few days later, and didn't notice much difference. Does that mean that C/A intake adds more power than the pulley? Nope, seriously, the butt dyno is a very subjective thing. Will I notice a difference like you when I add an exhaust? Who knows. The mechanical dyno says that the pulleys add some small amounts of hp and torque. Will you feel it? I don't think any of us can say for sure, I know I can't. But from an objective standpoint (a dynomometer) you will see a slight increase in power, at the slight expense of some cooling and perhaps charging.

I had pulleys on my 2000 3.0L, they just made the engine rev 'quicker' and free'd up a little extra power because that stock crank pulley is freaking heavy for a damn pulley. I say worth it if you've got the money to throw around, but I woulnt make it a " really have to have" kinda purchase.

Damn I was stoked about this but not so much now. I guess I'll wait for more reviews or just forget about it.

I'm biased, but I'll give you my 2 cents.

It comes down to the definition of 8HP. It equates to about 2/10's of a sec in the 1/4 mile. Thats what 8HP does. Not neck snapping by any means, but not a dog by any means. Products such as pulleys and tuners are different than intakes/exhaust for one major reason- they make no noise. You cannot overlook the sensation noise makes when "feeling" a gain by the seat of the pants. Onother difference is the consistent gain from idle to redline. Pulleys basically add that HP through the entire rpm band. I don't think that can be said for intakes/exhaust.

8hp for $100 is generally a bargain when you compare that to any other product out there.

It seems the older people are (me) the quieter they want their vehicle. The younger- the noisier. This came to light in a big way as I reviewed the 2002-2005 Thunderbirds (I want to give my wife the bird. lol.) While searching the forums I noticed they don't want superchargers, they have ford do all the maintenance, and most of the guys that installed a CAI took them off (too noisy for them). It was an interesting comparison to - say- a honda forum. It was pretty enlightening.

I got mine on a month ago. I love them. They really make the 3.0 move better, esp the pickup from stop, and accelerating on the highway.

I noticed a difference. Im not going to say throw you back in your seat, but its a well worth the money mod.

Add an exhaust and intake and you're going to love it.

Its hard to say. Its supposed to help, but with more power, comes a more heavy foot.

I avg about 21-22 with my 3.0 2wd
I have no idea how it would affect a 4.0 though

hah, it's all good. $100 isn't much to make up if it doesn't work out, but it will anyways.
