Drive Shaft rubbing heat shield on fuel tank

So recently I did my rear leaf springs because my old ones were beyond worn, they held up for 18 years so I’ll give them that. However in the process I ended up doing my shackles because they were getting paper thin.... so I ended up using the drop shackles but since the rangers are already flipped it worked out in my favor. But I’m thinking snd don't quote me on this but because I’m running a 3 inch block and lifted shackles it started rubbing because of the height difference in the rear. I didn’t fully place the springs at the top being so it doesn’t mess with the pinion angle so it’s a notch down.

My question is could I get away with cutting around the heat shield so it doesn’t rub the heat shield? I wouldn’t think a small section cut out would do any harm being as the shaft is moving the exhaust heat away from the tank.... I know it’s a common issue with these driveshafts because of the width of the shaft with newer years.
