Dumped exhaust issues?

When you guys "dump" your exhaust after the muffler or anywhere under the truck for that matter, do you notice any problems with exhaust fumes collecting under the truck and even worse leaking into the cab?

I can see while driving, the fumes wouldn't collect underneath, but while sitting still and idling I could imagine the fumes would just collect under the truck and possibly into the cab.

LOOONNNGGG periods of idling offroad and no problems. It's not likely to "collect" down there in a way that can get in the cab unless you've got gaping holes and the winds in the right direction.

The exhaust doesn't extend to the rear of the truck. It ends after the muffler, in other words "gets dumped" after the muffler.

So my exhaust and I have been having some issues for quite some time now. It never speaks up and I tend to find myself wanting more.....so I dumped it.

I unbolted the rest of my exhaust system after the last cat. So I went from resonated tips to no muffler dumped. It is pretty loud with a big growl to it, pretty cool too!

I'd like to get a 40 series sometime, but can't spend any money. I'm thinking the 40 series will change the growl to more of a rumble.

I recently had mine dumped and I don't have any issues with it. It now has a deeper/throatier tone to it, I like!

Im running a Magnaflow Catback.

Cool, After dumping it I was aware that no fumes were collecting dangerously underneath. By unbolting the flange after the last cat, the 'dump' was right under the passenger seat, this made the noise pretty loud in the cab. It seems everyone usually dumps it under the bed.

I bolted it back up and I'll dump it with a 40 series when I do my body lift.

I'm going to dump my exhaust with a Dynomax Turbo(i think that the name, its $40 at advance auto) and i'm just going to cut where the exhaust comes together under the passenger seat and just run a 1 or 2 foot pipe to under the bed and just dump it under there.

I'm glad you came to your senses.. you need a muffler or you'll lose important back pressure. if exhaust sound is that important go record f-350 and blast it thougha loud speaker.

taking off the muffler for better sound is like taking off the wheels and tires to save gas mileage

Ok so get this. After bolting it back up I just miss the loud rumbling so I decided to take the steps in getting the flowmaster. So I went online and did some research to find how much it would cost. I figured roughly 50-60 bucks if I do it myself (which I'm fully capable). But I figured I'd go to Midas to get a quote and maybe have them do it since I just didn't feel like getting dirty.

So I tell the guy I want a 40 dumped before the axle with a turndown and he says, "Sounds good, your looking at $225." I'm thinking holy crap! Then I ask how much for just the muffler, which he says he refuses to sell me without installation. So I say $225 is too much and he comes back with "Well how much you thinking?" At this point I realize he wants to negoiate a price. I HATE SALESMEN! I came to find the price for materials and labor and he's trying to get a deal going. So I say friends have got it done for $150 (thinking it would be too low and I could leave). He comes back with 175. I say no, he says he'll do it for $150 if I pull the truck in right then......I think about it and turn him down again knowing I can do it myself for less. Anyway, I just HATE Midas. Twice they acted like asses, I thought dumping would be straight forward.

So I went on ebay and picked up a brand new 40 series 2.25" O/O for $50. So I'll install it next weekend

I payed ~70 for my super 40 and ran it without dumps until my inspection went out, at which point I had to have dumps welded on, which cost $20 at a muffler shop.

Yeah dont go to Midas for exhaust work, they over-charge and are a$$es about stuff.. go to a real exhaust shop.. hole in the wall shops are *usually* the cheapest
