setting and running the engine , like every 10 seconds , the engine will cut off - then start running again. when on the road the engine cuts off your body is in the sterring wheel ,then the engine starts again you are thrown back into the seat, HELP 1987 2.9

 

Sounds like you have an ignition short. Could be the switch on the steering column or bad wire on the engine ignition (distributor, coil etc). Unless it's obvious, it will require testing to track down.
