Exhaust Manifold Bolts Gone

I was thinking about getting some headers for the truck so I checked to see how hard they are to get to. I noticed that the bolt/stud that holds the bracket for the coil pack (passenger side) and the bolt/stud that holds the bracket for the dip stick had sheared off.

Pictures below:

Any ideas?

After the manifold is off do you think I could weld a new nut onto the bolt and then remove it?

hmm..that might work but i think you will run into problems..

that manifold gets so hot so many times the metal is like thin and prone to blow through you might have problems weldin on it..

plus you need the bolts on there to tighten it down to the engine. i don't think you could do that with just pushing on it and welding it.

hes not welding the manifold. he would weld a nut onto the broken stud to remove it.

correct. it looks like there would be enough threads there after I remove the manifold to put a nut on. regardless i will soak it with pb or wd-40 for a week.

i wouldn't see any problem with taking the manafold off and welding a nut to it to get the stud out......

and FYI, my rule of thumb is, if you remove the manafold bolts, replace them, don't reuse them......they get so how and weaken the metal, and then the forces that you put on them when you remove and install them make it worse.....manafold bolts are cheap and easy to find...

great!!! now i just need to find someone with a welder, lol. i am definitely going to put new bolts on and i'm going to figure out a different spot for the dip stick and coil pack brackets to mount to.

i want to leave the 2 stock cats i have on the exhaust. does anyone know if new headers come with the pipe that goes back to the "Y" as well?
