Fan clutch went bad -- squeal/squeak -- going electric fan
The part number is 67015 for the mustang 5.0 one which is the same fan but not mounting as the 67017 which is a universal fit model, but on backorder from jegs and summit until 4/5/05, but is also a few $ cheaper. (~$120 plus their $9 handling)
I got the 67017 on ebay yesterday for $133 shipped, they said they had about 5 in stock, it was from a GM dealer (I doubted it would be for the 5.0, for obvious reasons but i called to make sure it was the 67017 and that they had them in stock. Should have it next week).
Yeah, I really cant see those bolts, I'll have to go toake a pic, or maybe just have a mechanic take it off, I imagine forcing that thing to turn cant be good for so long.

Great, you had to go there...now I have to go do it
So...I've been reading this about the 67017 fan from Pro-Form.
Can anyone tell me if I have the clearance with the OHV 4.0 in a 1995 truck?
All you in this thread either have newer Rangers, or no Ranger at all.

i am in the prosses of removing my old fan and replacing it with the stock one. one problem the shaft that goes into the block is a b*** to remove i got all the right tools n stuf liek the fan clutch wrenches but its not comming undone i also know that its a left hand thread. got ne ideas to make it simple? and no i dont want an electic fan at the moment
at this time i dont wana mess with an electric fan cus i might sell my ranger for newer one but its a pain to do like im renting the cluctch wrenches from autozone n its rounding the shaft but i got it fixed so it fits but i cant break it loose i might need to hit it or something or add a lil HEAT
We used a a large socket wrench for mine, and had a long pole and pushed down as hard and as fast as we could get it. But at the end we took the socket wrench and whapped the end with a hammer and voila...the nuts came off. We spent a good 45 minutes getting that damn bolt off!
As for the e-fans, i got a black magic 15" for $120 on ebay and it works AWESOME.

Didn't I post how I did it? A chisel and a hammer. If you use it right on the big nut, it breaks it loose. It's the only way I could get it off. I haven't read back over my topic here, but I believe I posted that somewhere here in it.
Exactly. It's wierd how HARD it is to MAKE myself try to unscrew it in the wrong direction...wonder if any other 3.0 people found it hard to make themselves fight to loosen it in the "wrong" direction?
