ford taurus motor swap
ford taurus motor swap
Iv been told that ford taurus motor will fit in my mazda b3000. I just want to verify that if anyone can. Also will there be any probly attacking it to my manual tranny, motor mounts and if i will need any new wiring .
Thanks
Thanks
Same exact blocks, same exact heads, nothing is different.
The lower intake, timing cover, head gaskets and oil pan need to be changed, as well. Never use Taurus head gaskets in a Ranger, they will eventually overheat.

the taurus 3.0 WILL NOT work in any rear wheel drive truck!!!
it is the same motor but the block is different and will not bolt in and nothing will interchange!

you forgot the most important thing, the crankshaft. its different also. so after dissassembling the entire engine and changing every part its NOT the same motor like i stated above!

It's the same engine folks. But you don't have to take our word for it:
Source: Rebuilding The Ford 3.0L V6 by Doug Anderson
"The 3.0L Ford pushrod motor has been around for nearly 20 years. It was originally introduced back in 1986 and millions of them have been installed in a wide variety of front and rear wheel drive cars and trucks since then. It's been used in several FWD applications including the Taurus/Sable, the Tempo/Topaz and the Probe cars, along with the Windstar vans, and it's been available in both the RWD Aerostar vans and Ranger pickups over the years."
aren't car engines and truck engines designed differently too?
don't truck engines have bigger heads that create a lower compression motor to allow for more torque and less economy/hp?
I wouldn't do it...the 3.0 sucks anyways
get a 4.0 out of a ranger!

the camshaft is different, the crankshaft is different, the head gaskets are different, the exhaust and intake manifolds are different, the flex plate is different, the front cover may be diffferent, the crankshaft ballancer is different. shall i go on?
