So I went to napa today and picked up a new fuel filter, I will be doing a tune up over the next couple weeks getting to things when I can. I was wondering where the fuel filter is roughly located on my 99 3.0 ranger. Thanks boys and if there are any ladies.

 

Driver side inner frame rail. You don't need tools to get it off.

 

if it was a 91 it would be under the cab on the driver side... might be the same place for the 99.

Well if it has colored tabs then you don't need the tool.

I honestly believe that this quote right here should be a STICKY. It would cut the repetitive questions and answers down by 50%. LOL

 

01+ is the colored tabs, for anything older you need a tool

 

K i got that tool and the napa people showed me how to use it, so I am going to give it a try I think on sunday.

 

be careful though, i've seen a few people break the tabs that holds the hose to the filter. (me being one of them)

 

I had such a hard time changing my filter the first time. All the mud and crap just froze everything together. In the end I sprayed everything with WD40, pushed the fitting toward the filter, pushed the tab and yanked the fittings off. Hopefully the time its not so hard.

 

They gave me tabs with the new filter, I do not understand why it has to be so difficult to do this, why did they not make it easier I can see how this will be hard even though it should be an easy thing.
