well i heard a loud squeal in my engine bay and i found it to be from the sepentine belt area, so without research i grab a can of belt conditioner and spray away. while spraying i think its like brake cleaner or carb cleaner, wrong its like hair spray leaves a sticky residue. so can i just carb cleaner or brake cleaner it off then put some wd-40 to the bearings of the pullies to see if thats the problem.
im an idiot dont flame me too hard for using belt conditioner, im sorry

Do not use wd40 on the pullies! It will spray out all over the belt. I did it once when I was 16, and so much wd40 got on the belt, it slipped off the pullies and completely shattered my electric fan lol.
Just spray some simple green on the belt and pullies the best you can, and then wipe it all down with a rag. It should be good enoough til you get to replace it.

i borrowed my friends wrenches and got it...it was the idler pully...i had the carb cleaner and when i sprayed the bearing it would stop squeaking so i replaced it and silence! no WD-40 though haha i read that somewhere to not put it on the belt itself just the bearings....now i just need to clean off the rest of the pullies from the stupid belt conditioner!

I have had 4 cars total, and I have had to replace the idler on everyone of them. They all seem to get worn out. And i didn't even put the wd40 on the belt, just the bearings. When I started up the car, the wd40 sprayed from the bearings, and got on one of the pullies. 16 and stupid lol.
Good fix tho
