Icon4 Help! Camshaft Sensor Wiring location & Dash lights

Just recently finished swapping my cluster and a couple of lights came on

check engine, Check Gauge, O/D off (Flashing).

So down to the local auto zone, we go and they say I have a faulty Camshaft sensor which that and the synchro control the cam and oil pump. I also don't have a working oil pressure gauge in either dash cluster... So then I pop up the hood and check behind the distributor to go ahead and replace it and I see that the sensor is not even plugged into anything.
I look around to see if I can see the pigtail and there's nothing to be seen..... so I have a couple of questions and hopefully you gents help me out a bit

before anything this is what I'm working with :

98 Ranger Xlt 2wd ( 4th owner)
3.0 motor (156k but I have no idea if it's original or swapped)
1l54 (M50D-R1 this was a swap from a prior owner last tranny was an auto)

Where does the pigtail in the wiring harness come from?

is there a way to bypass the CMP sensor? the reason, why I ask, is because the car starts up every time with no problem and runs cool for 5+ hours

... I've heard the o/d light flashing means something going on with the tranny since it's a swap could that most likely be at fault? should I worry or just swap the computer?

If your O/D Off light is flashing and the truck has a manual swap, it's because they kept the automatic computer and now the computer is looking for the transmission sensors that aren't there anymore. You likely have at least 8 transmission codes stored in the computer, but the scanners at the parts stores aren't sophisticated enough to read transmission codes in these trucks. But that would not affect the way the truck runs.

I'm confused on what connector is missing. The one for the camshaft position sensor, or the one for the oil pressure switch?

Oh man sorry for the late reply... lives been kinda hectic this past week, but I'm referring to the camshaft position sensor
I haven't had the time to really get in there and get a good look, don't really drive the truck much.

as for the o/d light, I guess ill try to get a day off and go to the junk to try and find a computer
thank you for replying...
