Ok guys first I want to extend my utmost gratitude to all that helped me figure out that I needed to regear. The problem was that I have a 3.0 running 32s with 3.73 gears. It wont even reverse out of my driveway b/c its 2 steep. any way, I found a site that sells the 7.5 rear gears, but they only carry jeep d35 fronts, and i dont have a clue as to whether its a reverse gear or what. all i know it its a 3.73 true dana 35. i looked up the numbers here. I have the numbers 610419. can any body provide me with a site that sells gears specifically for my app? I dont want to spend more than $200 for the gear, as I need to replace the rear too, obviously. Now I also need advice, the 4.11 and 4.56 rear are the same price, but which will give me better fuel economy? I dont want to turn over 25-2600 in fifth at 65, but I dont want it to be a turd anymore. I only get 6 mpg right now and it drinks 3/8 of a tank for a 58.8 mile round trip to my job thanks in advance

 

Jeeps have D30 fronts, not 35s.
Pretty sure you have to get the D35 front gears, but I beleive they are the same as the D35/ttb fronts if that helps.

I would not go 4.56 for 32s....I had 32s with 4.10 (4.0 though) and was quite happy with it. Mileage was decent, power was also decent.

 

I'm going to say that non reverse cut gears for a Dana 35 is what you are looking for.(Correct me if I'm wrong) The front is a Dana 35 but its narrower than a normal Dana 35.

 

6mpg? 6mpg!??

excuse me...i think some other work other than a gear change is needed. i suspect that engine isn't being taken care of.

http://completeoffroad.com is the cheapest place for high quality gears. They carry only Yukon gears and if you order the 'name brand' gear set....the cheapest on the site....you GET yukons. I did this and saved i believe $80 on gears.

Mileage comes witht keeping your engine in it's torque curve. AND...depends on your style of driving....and where you are driving. Do you do mosting city driving or highway driving?

I suggest 4.11 for your current tire. 4.56 imo would be too much gear for the tire...you'd be chugging fuel more on highway speeds, but you'd also get better in-city mileage.



First and formost.....get that truck running right because there's no effing way a ranger gets 6mpg.

 

The reason Im only getting 6mpg is b/c I have to literally floor the thing to make it up this big *** hill i live on. its a mile long at a 2% grade. will not pull it in 4th

 

There has to be something else wrong, lots of guys run 3.73s with 32s with no problems.

 

i have a set of 4.10's used for a ranger front end and i have a rebuild kit and a spare front end pm me if interested

 

I suggest even getting junkyard axles with 4.10s already in them and you'll be into it for less money.

oh....im unsure on the TTB D35, but the 98+ IFS D35 is standard cut r&p.
