high pitch noise

When im driving my truck above 3k rpms, I get a high pitch noise (maybe a squeak) that sounds like it is coming from the front of the dash area. For it to make the noise it has to be in gear and moving because when I rev it with the clutch in nothing happends.

I had a throw out bearing in the trans go out once. It squealed like crazy and sounded like it was coming from the clutch pedal. It wasn't a Ranger though.

get some belt dressing or some penetrating oil and spray it on the belt of your engine. see if it stops.

Could be the camshaft synchro and position sensor going out. Evidently, this is a real problem with the 3.0. From what I understand, it starts out as a squeaking or chirping sound, then it just goes out. Oil pressure drops to zero and your engine is toast after that. I'm going to have mine changed very soon.

Check out this thread.

I noticed on a long drive that when i come to a stop, like at a stop light, my oil preasure gauge is bouncing up and down and stops after i give it a little gas. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but that bugs me. How would I know if it was the camshaft synchro and position sensor going out?
