It IS do-able, just depends if you want to spend the cash or not. Its NOT cheap at all and not cost-effective for a daily driver. It IS good if your running an EFI vehical where you might want to change fuel maps due to elevation and air temp/pressure conditions.
If you know nothing about computer programming, I wouldn't even consider TRYING to do such to the ECM of your car. Its not ' user friendly ' or ' plug n play ' like everyone expects. If YOU hook something up and screw YOUR truck up.. Ford will laugh and say ' thanks for playing ' and send you out the door.
Theres things *I* still havent touched and won't, for good reasons. I spent some time at a Detroit/Michigan meet clearing cells and looking at folks ' tuned ' programmings and such.. Things are best left for the flashers sold endless you have a dynoshop near by that can ' rescue ' us from our own misfortunes. ( had this happen to me as well. sukked, my fault.. oops. )

bamachips is just the name of Doug Bamas company, and he calls his tuners bama tuners. The programer itself is actually an Xcal2. The one you get from Wayne is tuned by Rogue Tuning. I hear they are both just as good. It's your choice where you choose to get your xcal2 from. To make it simple....

Theres a LOT of people whom believe they can stuff way too much fuel with regular vaccume pull for air.. and increase the timing/spark.. and they go ' boom ' ( for lack of better terms, sometimes its a literal thing.. ).
Its really not that complicated, but NOT SOMETHING FOR THE LAZY! It DOES require having a knowledge before hand and READING MANUALS .
I'm sure the capitolized statements will scare 95% of those reading such away from even thinking about it.

You could buy a flasher or programmer. SCT, Xcal, hypertech.. they all do about the same thing. I would NOT remove your rev-limit. If your going to remove the speed-govenor, sure, have good tires, but a lead foot with no protection for the engine is another story.
Maybe have the limiter for rpm's bumped up a notch, but I wouldn't suggest fully removing it.
Panzer.. I say this in all kindness.. You sound young and impressionable. Before worrying about the speed limiter and rev limiters, please take an understanding as to why they are there.
Your truck tops out at 92mph due to the TIRES that came on it from the factory. Rangers are usually stable to about 120mph, then they become rather violent at 130mph-ish. The tires that came on it arent worth a damn after 110mph, you might as well be on a sheet of ice with what marginal grip they have ( regardless of what they are rated at ).
Pushrod engines don't like rpm's the way an OHC engine does. Theres a floating valvetrain that really doesn't enjoy higher rpm's. If you have an SOHC engine, you might bump those rpm's up a little bit, but the power increase you will *believe* to see really *won't* be there.
Having 1000 HP is GREAT! You also need a tranny, axle and tires to handle the power.. then brakes cause you have to stop sometime, even if for gas . Its a ' system ' of things.
I think you should look into what all is involved in those flashers and programmers, check your tires ratings and make sure everything will ' mesh ' together before spending 350+ dollars on something you will probably see little gain or function out of.
