Identify Mystery Part

I have a 98 ranger v6 3L

I was changing the oil filter today, from underneath, and found this part resting on the chasis in the gap under the oil filter. It is broken off from somewhere and was just floating around the engine compartment I guess untill I pulled it out. It is plastic and black. It looks like it is used to collect fluid and divert it somewhere, as it has a little resevoiur and funnel that looks like could connect to a hose. I looked around inside but dont see anything broken off or hoses disconnected. If anyone knows I would really appreciate any insight!

Thanks

Luke

It caught the oil when you took the filter off. It was attached to the block right under the filter.

I was gonna say it looked like a funnel but sounds like Tyler nailed it on the head.

Yup, that Tyler did...comes in handy when you're changing your oil filter and some drips out (and by some I mean you drop the filter and that stops it from dripping all over the motor)
