YEAH BABY!!

And this contributes how? You are actually damaging this thread by posting this. Take your own advise.

Actually it is on track, the OP wanted to know about intakes. There are 2 sides arguing, he can make a decision based on the facts presented to him.

I had a k&n cai in my last truck.2000 4.0 ohv. I noticed squat in performance or mpg. But I have been told that driving style and road conditions have alot to do with it. I run at preety high rpms and still couldnt tell a difference. So now I just have a k&n drop in filter in my '02 4.0 sohc, cant tell much there either other than it gets dirty fast, quicker than a paper.

meangrean 02-25-2009 08:40 PM

Geez. All i wanted was some advice about gettin a cold air intake. I got that and a whoooolllle lot more!

If the filter gets dirty - thats a good thing! I love the K&N filter I have in my truck, you can feel around inside the tube and it is clean as a whistle after the filter. No performance bonus it just helps keep gremlins out of the engine.

Like the other guy said, everything is re-routed into the intake after the maf, BOV's VTA shoot air that has been metered and things get screwy.

i hate how you ask for help on the site and everyone gives you a hard time. To answer the question, no a CAI will not improve squat, but at the same time it is a mod, and sets you up for future mods too. Isn't the point of a site to modify your vehicle? if nothing else it looks better. Maybe some people just have the urge to modify their trucks. If you think u would like or benefit from a CAI I say go for it. :biggthump

I don't think any body has posted "YOU CAN'T BUY A CAI!"

What needs to be understood here is a CAI is a waste of money, and has the potential to do damage. A lot of children can't seem to understand this concept, and would rather throw their money away!

Looks like a cold air intake to me.

It will only cause damage if you are stupid with it. Proper maintenance will keep you in the clear. Sorry we are not children. You are acting like one however. You come on a modding site and you preach OEM. Sorry its not going to work. And what is wrong with spending money? We don't like to be boring and you can't take it with you when you die. Again its our money so don't worry about it. We are not your kids. <-Thank God for that one.

In your case it does. I also like how you add a stupid comment to part of what I say because I you know I am right.

Who is the child now?

For someone with the modding potential that you have, yes it is a waste of money. For people who know how to do headwork and turbo's it is not. For people who know how to tune, it is not.

You could have written Obama a check for the same amount, and gotten the exact same performance increase!!!:biggthump:biggthump

I never said it gave me better performance.I simply said I likes. And that's what counts.
But if you must start with me.
It probably gave me as much performance as your aftermarket exhaust.:nana:
If you like Obama so much you write him a check.
As soon as you run out of something half way intelligent to say you start with insults.
You must be a very lonely person.

Some corrections to your OPINIONS:

I DID NOT vote for Obama
I AM NOT lonely
And since you got ZERO performance increase with your CAI, common sense would tell you that you would have gotten the same increase by sending a check to Obama!!:biggrin:

I guess you are just trying to make yourself feel better after shelling out big $$$ for something that is a WASTE......just repeat after me....I like it, I like it, I like it, I like it.....

This little guy is a noise canceling chamber, to keep the turbo noise down.

That is not to keep the turbo noise down. That is an intake resonator to keep the intake noise down, that funny rurring noise you hear when you mash on the pedal. Not a whole lot you can do about the compressor making noise.

Actually yes it is. It places the opening at the front where the stock intake draws its air from. Saying this is not a cold air intake is saying the the stock isn't.

See the difference? The stocker is not a CAI.

The stock intake is in a box which pulls cold air from behind the headlight. How isn't it? You don't have to have a 6' pipe to be a cold air intake just a little brains.

I installed a M2 Performance intake on my 1993 RX7. It was a box that pulled air from an opening just ahead and next to the radiator. So you are saying it wasn't cold air because I didn't have a blue, red or chrome 6' pipe?
