K&N question
K&N question
Now will just the airfilter help horse power? And if I get the filter... will itfit the intake system later if I get that ? Or should I just wait and get the whole intake system?
Id just save for the full intake vs the drop in filter. Just keep looking around for deals. I ended up getting my basicially brand new FIPK for 100 shipped from a fellow member here. Just keep an eye on ebay, craigslist, forums, etc
You can always just "swiss cheese the airbox" (Meaning, cut a hole in the front/fender side of the airbox, below the filter line of course)
Then drop in a k&n.
Sounds amazing, and pretty much the same as an intake setup. (Because of the TB opening, a kits piping is going to be the same size as OEM)

if you do a FIPK it doesn't have a box. so theres not going to be any SWISS CHEESE. if you offroad or go through any water stay away. i have to replace the MAF and clean the fuel injectors several times after offroading with the FIPK. its amazing for a DD. i wish i kept my stock box to switch out for weekend trips. i've done both, and as long as you keep it clean, you'll get better performance and milage w/ the FIPK.
The Ranger airbox is a CAI stock, if you offroad I would just stick with the stock box and swiss cheese it with a K&N drop in. But the full intake is pretty bling, you could run some tubing from the engine to the stock air box if you wanted too.
