Leak Down Test Question

Hey all,

I have a supposed burnt exhaust valve on my 2002 3.0. I already performed a compression test on the bad cylinder and found the PSI to be 62 (95 with oil). All other cylinders averaged 133 on compression.

I want to do a leak down test to confirm that the issue is a burnt/bad valve. My question is, do I need to buy a leak down tester? I would like to save money and just use an air compressor with the pressure set to 100 PSI. Since I already did a compression test, I don't see a need for a leak down "tester". Isn't an air compressor all I need to find where air is escaping or do I NEED the two-gauge leak down tester.

I know this seems really cheap but I'm a college student and can barely afford this DIY repair as it is, let alone a $60 leak down tester.

Thanks for the help!
