lost compression?

i need some advice. well i have a 99 2wd ranger with 173000 miles on it. ok a couple days before it quit on me the truck was hard to start well then all of the sundden i was driving and i lost compression. could i have warped the head or could i have tore up a valve. i not sure but i will answer any questions u guys have that will help you out and me. thanks

Well, what do you mean you were driving and you "lost compression"? Did the truck die and not restart? Did it start smoking profusely? Is there coolant in the oil (chocolate milk on dipstick) or oil in the coolant? Does the truck crank but not start? Give me a little more info and I'll give you my $.02. It may not be as bad as you think.

well the truck died and would not start back up. yes it will crank over. yes it did smoke. as fas as im concerned it does not have coolant in the oil. but the raditor is full of ice and it is cracked at the top right if your looking at it from the front of the truck.
