Mileage as bad as a 4.0?
as for the ranger being useless ..... 4cyl power!

sure it would be nice in a bigger truck and i plan on getting a toyota t100 as soon as i find a decent one, but the ranger isnt bad at all and ive had mine for 2.5 yrs or so
they arent as bad as everybody makes them out to be...around town they are no worse than any other fullsize...ive seen the 5.7 get 18 hwy already
The Tundra is an amazing truck. Never - NEVER would i ever of thought I would have an import truck.
...All it took was one drive gentlemen. One Test Drive.
Hands down - the best piece of machinery i have ever laid my hands feet and eyes on.
The black and tan interior - ..It's to Die for.

i really like the crewmax tundra...from what ive heard the tundra plant in san antonio is a really cool place...i wouldnt mind having a tundra but i was born and raised around fords and same with my dad and grandpa so im kinda partial to ford and dont know if i could do the transion
its very difficult.... very. Import trucks just never felt right..but the tundra feels american.
You must test drive it. Come back and report your feelings.
Test drive yourself a nice 4x4..with the black and tan interior...with all the cool tech stuff in it (which is pretty crazy stuff)

imo, I think the 3.0 is a useless motor. As already stated, it gets about the same mileage with less hp as the 4.0. And the hp ratings are just a hair over the 4cylinder.
op: 4.0 sohc, manual, 4.10's and 31's I average 20mpg. I drive up and down 29 every day that I drive it

my parents are into internationals, toyotas, and vw's .... part of growing up in south africa i guess, my grandmother had a pink international pickup and my dad and his sisters would ride in the back when they went to the beach from montague, ... funny thing is since coming to the US they have owned the following, in order since 1979
65 ford econoline
70s oldsmobile wagon
81 dodge omni
85 chevy s10 blazer, only vehicle my dads ever bought new
82 vw dasher
91 ford bronco
91 honda accord
85 toyota 4runner 22re 5spd last yr solid axle
98 volvo v70 xc wagon (pos)
59 jeep cj5

then why did you buy a ranger? That has to be the stupidest statement ive read in a long time on this site.

like i said - no one buys a ranger for the engine. These trucks are cheaped out on on every aspect available from ford. The transmissions suck, the design is plain and the price is dirt cheap and when it goes to the shop - only the new guys at the dealerships work on them.
The 3.0 is the saving grace of the ranger. It is the only thing on the whole ranger that is worth spending a single nickle for. This is one of the engines that SAVED ford. The unreliable, poorley designed 4.0 has not been able to do that. the 3.0 design is beautiful - although not powerful..
As far as it being useless - well.. in the army - they teach you to be resourceful... you can use **** as face paint - to save your life..thereby finding a "use" for it.. doesn't particularly make it "Useful"
I think it's pretty crazy of you coming onto a Ranger site and sayin that they're useless.
Some of these guys have over 30K tied up in these trucks so if you're into the "other trucks" go join another group.
mr.45 post?

Now - i dont personally belive the ranger is the truck to spend 30k on...but to each his own. this truck may infact bring hapiness in its own way to many people..thats fine. but the reason *I*
the reason i LOVE my ranger - the reason i ADORE it...is because i can treat it like JUNK...drive it like JUNK...and **** in it for gas and drive over every curb i feel like and rag it out and never change the oil...and it will still last me 300k miles with no problem.
if this truck wern't "Useless" i wouldnt love it.
I can drive it in ways and treat it in ways i would never do the Tundra or even my mustang. I swear - my ranger looks better when i DONT wash it.
See how that works
The mind is a very wacky place :screwy:

stilll love ya' baby

I disagree. I think THAT is the stupidest statement i've ever heard...period..

I'm not even going to argue with this loser. (I hope a moderator deletes it's post)

why do i get the feeling the reason you are so defensive is because the only thing good in your life and the only thing you are good for is driving your ranger

chill out son.
This conversation is over.

I've owned 3 F150s and 4 Rangers, Ranger is a buy far a tougher truck. I owned a 21 foot camper towed it with both, F150 with a 5.4 and a Ranger with 4.0, the Ranger towed it easier and got better gas mileage. The newer F150's 2004 and up are just to big it's like driving a semi-truck, and hard to get stuff in and out the bed.
Note: The seventh generation (1980-1986) was the best F150, with the 300 straight 6.
I just bought my 4th Ranger with a 2.3 w/ M5, and love it. I got it for the great gas mileage, and it's so easy to drive around town. Plus it does everything I need it to do or want to do.
As the the 3.0, drove a Aerostar (had over 130,000 miles on it at that time) with no high gear for over a year, it ran at 5,000+ rpm on the highway, was a great V-6.

You're probably getting that feeling because you're retarded or you have a low IQ level.
the 3.0 in my 98 ext cab sport moves out pretty good i spank 4cyls all day its stick 1st,2nd,3rd are really geared to go and 4th an 5th are really high to cruise around in an i still get mid to low 20's all day no matter how i drive
