Morana 1.7 Roller Rockers

Well I installed my Morana 1.7 rockers a couple weeks ago.All I can say is WOW!!
They really wake my little 3.0 up.Before NA it sounded like it was struggling in the upper RPM's.Now it pulls up to 5500 RPM,s really easy.In NA form they gave me 4/10's and 2 MPH in the 1/4 mile. The motor just feels stronger all around. Not bad for $300.
This is a direct bolt on kit.It took me about 2 hours to do and is IMO the best mod dollar for dollar I've done yet. They take our wimpy 416 lift @ valve and make it 442 lift @ valve.
Anyone with even a little mechanical know how can do this.
I just wanted to share my results.

Tony

since it raised the lift does it make the idel more rough even though its only a lil bit higher. i have a 71 chevelle with rollers and a 510 lift cam and i love the rough idle. i know its not like that but coulg you tell a diff

this is something Ive been wanting to do but I just dont have the money nor time thanks to school... all the other guys have said its fairly easy, just need to be safe when re-tapping the holes

one question did you go through Morana or did you go through Wayne? if you went through Morana how was the service? and also how was the shipping like how was everything shipped and how long did it take?

Im just curious

I'm impressed if the rockers alone dropped you 4/10ths in the quarter.

I noticed a very little difference in idle.It is more responsive though. You can really tell when your passing or merging on to the freeway.
I was gonna get the 1.72 rockers but did'nt want to raise the power band to high.I don't want to give up the little bit of TQ that I have down low. They take it to .448 @ valve.

If I had a 3.0 I would defiantly do this mod. I have heard nothing but good things about this mod.

They don't make anything for your truck. You have overhead cams so the valvetrain setup is different.

The nice thing about the Morana kit is there is NO TAPPING.It's a bolt on kit no adjusting either.
Tom Morana is a super nice guy.The shipping was fast. There located in Canada.shipping to Florida was $20.

Nope. There is no rocker since the cam pushes directly on the valve. <----SOHC 4.0.

The thing with the 3.0 is that it struggles up top.Now that it pulls the upper RPM's better. It does'nt hang up there before it shifts. That alone makes a huge difference.

It wasnt really noticeable, but the engine seemed "spool" up quicker from the bottom end, from 1000 rpms to 3000 it shot up much quicker compared to gradually. But it may be different for the 4.0. I got the kit with the alt pulley, water pump and crank for about $175 I think not too sure, I went to Wayne at http://stuffforyourranger.com/store/. The install was fairly easy only problem for me was that I didnt have any access to air tools here at school so me and a buddy did it all by hand... but Id say get an air gun to do the alt pulley if you are doing it... but the Crank pulley was the worse, since its put on with locktite, you have to break it lose... Im about 6ft even at 138lbs and it took me and my 200 lb buddy to break em lose. Took us two days to do it because we went around trying to find a shop that would let us borrow their air tools but to no luck... the ford dealer wanted $75 just for the alt pulley. But I think that for the price you cant beat it, Id say it was well worth it... Id say go for it.

Yeah ive thought about getting a few parts from him in the past, Ive heard some good and bad stuff about him, like his prices are overated and he has horrible service.... I was just wondering what your experience was with him... Id probably stick with Wayne though all my performance parts have came from him and hes a great guy to deal with.

With a 93 perf. tune it went a 16.08@ 84 NA.I did not spray it because I want to get my headers on,up the shot to 70 and get it on a dyno first.
I trust my tuning skills, but I can do 1/4 mile tuning runs on my friends Mustang Dyno.It's70 miles to the closest track. So it will be a few weeks before I get back.
Then I'll get it back to to the track and let'er rip.I'm hoping for consistent 14's on the nitrous. Not fast but fun.

To be honest. This was my first purchase from them and I give them an A+ on this transaction.

14's in a truck is fast IMO. thats what my grand prix ran stock, and that even felt fast!
