Need advice for new fuel injectors

For context I have the 2006 3.0 V6 ranger XLT and have had a CEL for P0171 and P0174 since I got the truck 2 months ago…

I tried replacing all spark plugs and wires, new MAF sensor, new fuel filter, checked for leaks in vacuums and cleaned all sensors that could be causing this problem.

Now I’m assuming that it’s the fuel injectors, and it definitely makes sense since the truck actually sat for 5 years before I got it and wasn’t drained of gas(and never was)

ive read that I should stick to motor craft injectors and not to even bother with 3rd party companies for this.

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for replacing all 6 injectors. Should I do it myself and YouTube mechanic the job or pay for a REAL mechanic to replace them for me?

heard that the job can be a difficult one and being 18 don’t really wanna mess up the truck…

appreciate any feedback, thanks!

EDIT: I did not clean the O2 sensors I replaced all of them!

You can't clean O2 sensors and at $25 a piece you should just replace them.

Injectors are $50 a piece.

I know which one I'd try first. $50 vs $300

I'm assuming the truck can be driven. How does it idle? I'd throw a can of Seafoam and fresh gas in the tank and see if the injectors clean up and I'd manually clear the codes. If the condition still exists, it won't be long before you see them again.

I seriously doubt you need new injectors. I agree with the sea foam or if you have heard of BG products pick up a can of 44K. It's a strong cleaner!
What are the running issues you are having?

Thanks for the responses

The truck does run and has been refueled.

the idle is kinda rough but better since the new spark plugs (right now it sits around 1050 rpms)

never heard of that cleaner before, I’ll look into it! Definitely would be worth it to try it since new injectors are pretty expensive.

I’ll update you when I try the cleaner! Thanks!

Google BG dealers in your area. Many reputable shops carry it or NAPA stores. It's going to be about $25 for the can but it works great. I have used BG products for over 20 years!

Read the thread below. Same codes, same engine, etc.

interesting, didnt know the fuel pump could cause a lean code

Ill do some more research on it, definetly could be a factor considering the truck sat for so long

I didn't either until it happened. Everybody thinks that fuel pumps just die and stop working, but they also get weak and still somewhat work as well.
