Oil Filter Funnel

Ok I changed my oil the other day and ended up removing the little black funnel over the starter since it was barely hanging on. Should I see about getting a new one or trying to put the old one back on? I don't want the oil dripping all over the starter and causing it to catch fire etc...

Yeah, I had to replace mine becuase the oil filter came loose and dribbled oil yuminess all over my starter, that thing doesn't work... You should invest in one of those aluminized fabric starter covers from summit, I am payday.

When my starter when bad i had to take that damn funnel out. I couldn't get it back on so i just left if off. I havn't had a problem yet with oil catching fire. *knock on wood* I heard that even if the oil did catch a spark it wouldn't set flame it would just smoke.

I had to replace mine cause it was full of mud and oil... I'm just getting that cover to keep the majority of both off my starter so i don't have to replace it again.
