Ok so basically what I want to get out of this thread is a good performance set up...

I want the best gear ratio... ive heard 4 36 to 4 56

AND

The best Aiur Intake system that gives the most HP and mpg gains

So with that said I would appreciate any input..

Thanks guys

go with 4.56s, and also get a sct tuner. go to tony at hp performance in OP, and get him to dyno tune it. Hes one of the best SCT tuners around here. even tuned my toyota on a program he had only used once before.

I have a k&n intake
There really is no major power difference
I have noticed though, that my truck (automatic) uses less rpms
which is good incases of increased mpg.

Pullies.

i would go with 4.56 cause you probably put 35'' tires on there eventually. i got 35'' and 4.56 gears and a K&N intake and get 18 to 21 mile per gallon in town

Agreed.. I would rather toss a big 5.0 in then turbo it You get the benefit of alot simpler install.. along with that kickass v8 sound =) carbed or not.. its your choice =)

I plan on going carbed 302 eventually, do a little head work since I can get the hookup on the valvetrain, a nice carb/manifold, and long tubes. Now THAT would be fun and would rape any v6 Ranger.

well since you already have and exhaust. Get some jba headers, more air intake need more room to exit and the jba's will help with that.

I got mine for 300 at a local shop. It included oil and all labor. I gave him the gears and master install kit.

honestly your not going to get alot out of the 3.0. Its pretty easy to slap on an intake... IMO an intake is an intake, to make all generalizations. Id say just get a drop in filter, all the Intakes for our truck are pretty much Warm air intakes anyway, even with the heat sheild.... on top of this there has been shown a minimal gain of maybe 1-2hp by going to an intake over just a drop in filter... but at a price difference of $30 for the filter, and $275 for the intake...

Even with an intake and exhaust the 3.0 is a slouch, you might wanna check out rogue performance, and look into a torque tune...

If its any reference to you, my friend has a 2002 reg cab 2wd auto 3.0, with intake, exhaust, and the SCT tuner, and runs low 19's on 31" tires and 3.73 gears.
