Performance Set up question

Ok so I was considering trading my truck but decided to just keep it and do some performance upgrades.

I know there isnt a lot in the 3.0 department for performance but I know I can do an intake gears and a performance programmer.

How much horsepower can I get from all that and how much can the truck handle?

I was thinking 4.56 gears because I want to get 35s
Air Raid intake?

What do yall think?

the truck should handle it all just fine its when you start feeding it boost and laughing gas that you may need to beef it up... theres also the pullies, maybe port the upper and lower intake manifolds, swap on an escape TB (requires some custom fitting but isnt that bad), half shaft your TB, headers, roller rockers..... if you wheel a lot go with volant on the CAI it has a box and wont suck up mud and water when you go out.

heres some sites to check out

its alright, just the littlest mod like the zip tie mod really wakes up the little 3.0

Ok so like the underdog performance pulley pack? 199.99 isn't bad... and 4.56s will do fine with 35s?

I'd sell the truck and get a sports car if you want to go fast. Oh wait I want to do that.

I would look at 4.88s too, a lot of guys prefer those with 35s. I haven't used either so I can't really help out much. Razorsedge has 4.88s in his.

I think 4:56's are perfect for 35's.
4:88's is overkill.

I would love to sell it and get a sports car... however being 21 does not help insurance rates with sports cars haha... and i think ill stick with 4 56 Ive heard more about them... and doesnt the higher ratio get worse mileage/performance?

Motor, tire size, tranny, and mods, have a lot to do with gear ratio selection.

I would think it over man. Shane put in 4.88's in his, and even he thinks he should have done 4.56's. All depends on the kinds of driving you like to do and where you plan on taking the truck. Also what's done to it performance wise plays a factor in it. Just keep in mind the shorter the gear, the faster it gets up to speed, but the quicker it tops out leaving you at a freeway speed at about 2800-3000rpm.

I put 4.56's in my 2wd with the 2.5L 5spd after putting 33's on it. Pushed them just fine and I had no motor mods done.

Honestly, with what you plan to do motor wise and run 35's, go with 4.56. I'll be doing 4.56's in the near future.

If you're about speed, then lower the ranger on some 17's and go with some 3.73's or 4.10's. Lifted rangers aren't really for speed. With the exception of Zach. lol

Yea I know they aren't Vettes or Cobras but my definition of speed is justt a little quicker in the acceleration department. haha. But I am going to go with the 4.56s and the tune/ intake and I may be doing a Detroit locker.

Those all sound like excellent plans man!

No, it was one of the few things that were on the truck when I bought it. I think the only things left on the truck since I bought it are the rims and that light bar. I've done EVERYTHING else to it. But the bar is a Fabtech bar and universal mounting brackets also from fabtech I believe.

Only thing different about that one is it's blue. I think you can order them black though.

Which would be more effective and useful... an air intake system like K&N or a Programmer?
