Those of you thinking about doing crank underdrive pulley

Do it!!!! Ive had mine for a month almost and my mpgs increased by 1.5 - 2mpg. I was getting 16-17 stock. 17-18 with efan. 19-20 with efan & underdog crank pulley. Engine revs up quicker now and I can pull 5th gear longer. At this rate it will pay itself off in no time!

I thought this was gonna be an anti-drug thread...

Do drugs kiddies. It makes you look like you're old enough to buy beer.

Sold me on it. Where did u get it from? And did u have to remove ur fan and all that or get a new belt? I saw that they want u to do the alternator pulley along with the crank, noticed any issues there?

The really only time you'll have a issue is if you have a big stereo system or a lot of offroad lights that you keep on all the time.

It's a smaller pulley so it spins everything slower than normal

It spins less so yes. Its really not enough to notice though unless you have a serious draw on the system. You should be fine since you don't have a sub or anything like that.

What would you consider a big stereo system? I'm thinking of getting the UD pulley kit from here: 3.0L 4 Piece Pulley Combo Kit [udp30combo] - $199.00 : Underdog-Performance, The Art of Power Look at my signature area for my system specs. Would you consider that a big stereo system?

Specs straight from Cruthfield:

Basslink II: •Class D 250-watt amplifier
Basslink expansion module: •35 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, 50 watts x 4 at 2 ohms

By my calculations that's 250 + (35x4) = 390 on the low side or 250 + (50x4) = 450 on the high side

I can't recall which ohms it's running at.

I doubt that would be a issue. You can always order the alt pulley separately if you need it or just go ahead and order it now. It won't hurt anything having it on.

hell i had a 1000 watt amp with 3 mtx 10s in my probe with just an under drive pulley and the only time it did anything was at a idle with the system turned up. it would dim my lights when the system would hit and never hurt anything when on the highway. i would run my system on a 2 hour drive home turned up pretty loud and it never dropped the batt or anything on the highway

I seriously didn't think I'd have an issue with my sound system and the pulley kit but I just wanted to ask before I purchase and install it. Sorry for the temporary thread jack.

Id get the alternator pulley even without a high draw system or lights.

As far as NEEDING other pullies? You dont NEED them. You might want to get the alt pulley if you dont plan on getting an expo alt down the road. Ive got a taurus fan and @ idle, with efan on, headlights on, volts drop down to 12.3-12.5. I planned on going to an expo amp down the road so I didnt get the alt pulley. Once up to speed or even above 1K RPMs...volts are back up to normal. The rest of the pulleys are STOCK SIZE, no changes there besides cosmetics. I got a black crank pulley so it blends in nicely....cant tell its not OEM. Ive got an Optima Yellow Top, plan on doing Big 3 upgrade soon as well as Expo alt to help out with the charging, but I dont think I need it honestly, I just overkill everything I do. Got my pulley from stuffforyourranger.com!

edit: No need to take off fan if youre just doing crank pulley I think...again, I have a taurus e-fan so IDK

Yeah fan must come off but its not hard. I didn't even need the special tool to get mine off, just a strap wrench and a crescent wrench.
